April Skies to play Hersheypark
August 23, 2007Hershey, Pennsylvania Alternative/Indie rockers The April Skies are gearing up for an exclusive gig on Sunday September 2nd, 2007 at the Hersheypark Amphitheatre, inside the world-renowned Hersheypark.
“We feel honored to be the only central PA (regional) act playing inside the park at the Amphitheatre this year” said The April Skies lead singer/guitarist Jake Crawford. “Hersheypark has put together such a solid line-up of national acts playing there all summer long. It feels pretty cool to see our name sitting alongside acts like Joan Jett, The Gin Blossoms, Foghat and Jan & Dean, a little surreal, but cool.”
“We’re very appreciative of the way the town of Hershey has embraced us. We were honored to play last year’s New Years Eve event in front of eight or nine thousand people downtown. This is just more icing on the cake and we hope to forge a lasting relationship with Hershey Entertainment as well,” added bassist Jason Leidich.
Laura Woodburn, Director of Entertainment, HERSHEYPARK adds “HERSHEYPARK is looking forward to having one of our local bands, The April Skies, play in the HERSHEYPARK Amphitheatre on Sunday, September 2. The April Skies played for our town-wide New Year’s celebration and we are thrilled to have them back to the Park for our Labor Day weekend celebration.”
The Hersheypark show takes place in support of the band’s current release HOW IT ALL PLAYED OUT (released this past October on WiAB Records) and comes after months of tour dates in cities like NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, Lancaster, Harrisburg and appearances at this years Millennium Music Conference, ArtsFest and the annual Dewey Beach Popfest. The band is gearing for more tour dates this fall and throughout the rest of this year and has already begun recording demos for another full length to be released in 2008.
The April Skies perform in the Hersheypark Amphitheatre on Sunday, September 2nd, 2007 with show times at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. Entrance to the Amphitheatre is free with paid admission to Hersheypark.
